Run DMCRegular price $250.00
Their story was my story, our story. They were the first group to dress like we did (every other group's attire reflected the funk and disco era). They rapped about the social and political climate of the time. Their songs were about how we were all living: trying to make ends meat, working hard against the competition, being underpaid and falling behind on bills, but they didn't just paint a picture of obstacles. They also gave us positive words of wisdom and uplifted us with their message without being corny. They were original. They represented everything I wanted to be: a cool, stylish, intelligent man. I followed their shows like a hip-hop deadhead.
