Refund policy

This policy applies to purchases made directly through justinbua.com, operated by BUA, Inc. ("BUA," "we," "us," or "our"). Purchases from other retailers must be returned to the original seller under that seller's policies, without affecting any rights you may have against us under applicable law.

All purchases made through justinbua.com — including standard-edition books, open-edition prints, apparel, other merchandise, original artworks, and BUA Quik originals — are final sale. We do not accept returns or exchanges for change of mind, sizing, or personal preference, and a discount does not change this. Review product descriptions, dimensions, medium, framing details, and images carefully before ordering, and contact us with any questions before you buy.

This final-sale policy does not limit any right you have under applicable law if an item arrives defective, damaged, incorrect, or materially different from its description, as described below.

For products explicitly sold as an artist-selected or surprise selection, the subject or composition may vary as described in the listing. A preference for a different selection is not a defect. We remain responsible for supplying the product and characteristics promised in the listing.

Inspect your order on arrival and contact bua@justinbua.com promptly if something is damaged, defective, incorrect, or missing. Where reasonably possible, report visible transit damage within seven calendar days and provide photos of the item, packaging, and shipping label. Keep the packaging while we review the issue. This requested reporting period does not shorten statutory rights, exclude hidden defects, or automatically invalidate a later claim.

We will assess the problem and provide the repair, replacement, refund, or other remedy required by applicable law. We will respect any right you have to choose a remedy. Where the law permits us to select the remedy, we may offer a suitable repair or replacement; if neither is reasonably available, we will refund the affected item and applicable tax, together with shipping charges refundable by law. We will not substitute a different original artwork without your agreement.

If a shipment appears lost or is marked delivered but cannot be located, contact us promptly so we can investigate. Tracking status alone does not eliminate your legal rights. A remedy required by law will not depend on our first receiving reimbursement from a carrier or insurer.

For an incorrect, defective, or transit-damaged item for which we are responsible, we will provide a prepaid return method or arrange collection, if a return is needed. Contact us before arranging an expensive return shipment.

Where a refund is owed under this policy or applicable law, we will inspect the returned item (if a return is needed) and issue the refund within 10 business days after receipt, or notify you why the claim does not qualify. Any shorter legal refund deadline takes priority.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and reflect the amount actually paid, including applicable refundable taxes. Your bank or payment provider may require additional time to post the credit. We will not substitute store credit for a refund you are legally entitled to receive without your agreement.

Contact us promptly if you need to cancel or change an order. We cannot guarantee that a cancellation can be accommodated once fulfillment or custom work begins. For preorders, refer to the shipping timeframe disclosed before purchase. If we cannot ship within the promised timeframe, we will provide required delay notices and cancellation or refund options. Nothing in this policy removes rights relating to delayed or unfulfilled orders.

Screen settings and lighting can affect how colors appear. Minor variations consistent with the disclosed handmade process, medium, texture, or materials are not necessarily defects. These statements do not excuse a material mismatch with the product description, authenticity claims, or disclosed specifications.

This policy does not cover damage caused after delivery by misuse, improper storage, unauthorized alteration, negligent handling, chemicals, moisture, excessive heat, or prolonged direct sunlight. Normal aging is not itself a defect, but this does not exclude claims for premature deterioration, faulty materials, or failure to meet legally required quality or durability standards.

This policy supplements your statutory rights. Where applicable law gives you additional rights or makes a restriction unenforceable, that law controls, including a mandatory right to return or cancel that no final-sale policy can override. This includes mandatory rights available to customers in the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other destinations we serve.

EU and UK withdrawal rights, where applicable: You may cancel an eligible online purchase without giving a reason by notifying us within 14 calendar days after you or your designated recipient, other than the carrier, receives the goods. For a single order delivered separately, the period generally starts after the final item arrives. Longer periods required by law apply.

Send a clear cancellation statement to the email or business address below. You may use the optional form below. Any legally required electronic withdrawal function must also be available through our store. You do not need our approval to exercise this right.

Return the goods within 14 calendar days after notifying us. You bear the direct return cost only where that responsibility was properly disclosed before purchase and the law allows it. For goods that cannot normally be returned by post, any required estimate of return cost will be provided before purchase; otherwise we will bear that cost where required by law.

We will reimburse payments required by law, including the least expensive standard outbound delivery charge for a fully canceled order, within 14 calendar days after receiving your cancellation notice. Unless we offered to collect the goods, we may withhold reimbursement until we receive them or evidence that you sent them back, whichever occurs first. Premium delivery upgrades need not be refunded beyond the standard delivery amount unless required by law. Partial-order delivery refunds follow applicable law.

You may inspect goods as you would in a shop. Where legally permitted, we may deduct only the loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning. Original packaging is not an absolute condition of statutory withdrawal.

Legally recognized exceptions may apply to goods made to your individual specifications or clearly personalized. Merely being an original, limited edition, signed, numbered, discounted, or labeled final sale does not by itself remove statutory withdrawal rights. Defective-goods rights remain separate from change-of-mind rights.

All copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property rights in BUA's artworks, designs, and products — including original paintings, drawings, sketchbook originals, and BUA Quik originals — are and remain the exclusive property of BUA, Inc. and The Justin BUA Estate.

Purchasing a physical work, in any form, conveys ownership of that physical object only. It does not transfer, license, assign, or grant any right to reproduce, copy, photograph or scan for reproduction, distribute, publicly display for commercial purposes, create derivative works from, or otherwise commercially exploit the underlying image, design, or artistic content, whether embodied in the original artwork, a print, an edition, or any other reproduction. Any such use requires prior written permission from BUA, Inc.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, BUA is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from a return, such as lost business profits or speculative resale value. This limitation does not exclude or limit liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, mandatory product liability, nonwaivable warranties, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. It does not restrict refunds, damages, or other remedies that applicable consumer law requires.

Nothing in this policy waives lawful payment-dispute rights. The policy in effect when you place your order applies to that order; later changes will not retroactively reduce your rights.
